Once Upon a Time...

One of the most unique festivals of the Canary Islands, and perhaps the most famous carnival in all of Spain, kicks of on February 7th and lasts until March 1st.

 

In one form or another, The Carnival of Las Palmas has been celebrated for almost 500 years.

 

It starts with a musical parade and the Opening Ceremony on the Santa Ana Plaza (just a few hundred meters from Stardust House). More than 600 000 people are expected to attend one or more of the many events.

 

This year, the theme is Once Upon a Time - so dress up like you live in a fairytale...


 

A few highlights:

  • Feb. 7th: The opening Ceremony on the Santa Ana Plaza
  • Feb. 21st: The Queen Gala and the Main Carnival Party in the Santa Catalina Park
  • Feb. 29th: The Main Carnival Parade through the city, followed by a big Night Party in the Santa Catalina Park
  • March 1st: The Burial of the Sardine
